Overview
Follow-up ultrasound is an important part of medical vein treatment. After procedures such as EVLT, RFA, VenaSeal, Varithena, ClariVein, or ultrasound-guided foam treatment, ultrasound may be used to confirm that the treated vein has closed and to check recovery.
This exam gives the care team objective information and helps determine whether additional treatment is needed.
What Follow-Up is used for
- Confirming treated vein closure
- Checking blood flow after treatment
- Screening for post-procedure concerns
- Planning staged treatment
- Evaluating remaining branch veins
- Documenting treatment response
How the treatment works
Gel is applied to the skin, and an ultrasound probe is moved over the treated area. The exam is non-invasive.
What to expect
The physician-led team reviews results and explains next steps. If additional branch veins remain, phlebectomy or sclerotherapy may be discussed.
Recovery and aftercare
No downtime.
Insurance and medical necessity
Follow-up ultrasound is often part of standard post-procedure care when medically necessary. Coverage depends on the plan and timing.
